EP 19: Learning Self-Care
Self-Care looks different to everyone, but all that matters at the end of the day is that we each practice it.
There may be some confusion around what self-care is versus self-love and I understand that completely because I too debated for quite a while on what they were, even after looking up the meaning in the dictionary.
The conclusion I came to was:
Self-Care are the things that you do sustain, embolden and fill up your mental, emotional and physical well-being.
Self-Love are the feelings you have for yourself and feelings of worthiness, love, esteem and more.
I also realized that what you show yourself in one is a direct reflection of the other and vice versa. The more you love yourself, the more you give yourself self-care and vice versa.
To identify it…
First, find those moments when you feel the most uplifted, content, excited, at peace, etc doing something for yourself.
Next, understand what you were doing in those moments.
Then, use those findings to determine what your triggers are that drain you and cause you stress, tiredness, etc.
Finally, practice giving yourself what you need for self-care anytime you feel stressed or unhappy.
It’s a simple thing that is often overlooked, but necessary when we take care of so many things and others.
You can’t give to others what you don’t have. So fill up your cup first and be of better service to those around you.
